UPM-Group of Biometrics, Biosignals and Security (GB2S)
Campus de Montegancedo s/n
Pozuelo de Alarcón
The Group of Biometrics, Biosignals and Security (GB2S) appeared in 1998 in Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación (ETSIT), from Polytechnical University of Madrid (UPM). At present, GB2S is located within Centro de Domótica Integral (CeDInt), which belongs also to UPM, in Madrid, Spain.
Our Research Lines cover a diverse number of topics not only in Biometrics (iris, In-air signature, Hand Geometry) and Cryptography, but also in topics related to Biosignals, like Stress Detection or biometric identification by means of Human Odour. These lines have result in a great number of Publications and Patents applications.
In addition, one of the main interests of GB2S concerns the application of biometrics to mobile devices.
Furthermore, the GB2S owns several multimodal and monomodal biometric Databases gathering different biometric characteristics (Iris, Face, Gait, Hand or Gestures), publicly available for research purposes.

Biometrics on Mobile Devices, Stress Detection and Cryptography
What we offer:
Our interest regard new biometric techniques like in-air signature with accelerometers and applying biometrics to mobile devices (iris, hand, in-air signature and face), together with other biometric techniques like odour recognition. Concerning this former biometric technique, odour recognition has provived us with experience not only in pattern recognition to identify individuals from their odour but also the possibility to detect different chemical components, very useful in explosive detection, for instance. We have, in this regard, solutions already implemented and available for a final product.
Our applications are entirely oriented to mobile devices.
Furthermore, we focus our attention on increasing current biometric systems providing some suitable solutions like stress detection, which enriches security by detecting whether the individual is under a threating situation.
On the other hand, we have a very high interest on cryptography, due to our background in advanced mathematics. This interest has leaded us to research on cryptobiometrics and to provide soluctions for advanced problems in cryptography like real time encryption of geat amount of data.
What are we looking for:
We are mainly interested on industry customers and distributors related to biometrics and mobile devices. In addition, we are also interested in collaboration with other research bodies like research groups or universities.
