New system for the location and communication of traffic warnings

What we offer:
Emergency lights in vehicles are crucial on the road to warn nearby vehicles about traffic incidents. However, they are not efficient enough under low visibility, adverse weather conditions or in case of obstacles.

The main objective of this technology is to improve road safety by means of a system based on a satellite positioning system and on radio communications, to reduce the number of accidents that might be caused by damaged vehicles, accidents, people with reduced mobility (pedestrian of special characteristics, cyclists, etc.) or by any other incident that may generate a risk for the drivers.
Knowing in real time the position of the source of danger and transmit this information to the rest of the vehicles would greatly help to avoid possible accidents and to improve the fluency in congested traffic.
This technology reduces these risks reinforcing the visual warnings from the traditional emergency lights by means of a radiofrequency signal that is transmitted from the source of danger. This signal will be received by the approaching vehicles, in a way that they receive the type of incident and its position being able to calculate the distance to it. Jointly with the position, the cause of the incident or warning is transmitted: slow vehicle, special convoys, mist, accident, works on the road, etc.).

This technology consists of a method and system for the location and communication (transmission and reception) in real time, without the need of intermediate elements (existing communication networks such as GSM, central servers, etc.), of incident warnings on the road for the vehicles close to the incident. The method is based on the communication, via radio, between the element generating of the warning, named source of danger, and the approaching vehicles, being identified in this communication the location and the type of incident generated.

This technology is interesting for any company working on transport and telecommunication areas dedicated to control, analysis and measurement technologies.

Low cost stand-in jammer for UAVs

What we offer:
Armies worldwide use several platforms for the evaluation of their weapons, being one of the most usual, the use of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs). Nowadays, weapon systems are supported on radar systems and to completely evaluate them, equipments able to disturb these radars are required (jammers).

The systems known in the State of the Art for UAVs are sophisticated, heavy and expensive and for that reason they need to be transported on big aerial, marine or terrestrial platforms. Consequently, these devices are not suitable to be destroyed in weapon training exercises with real gunfire, because besides the device, the platform will be destroyed as well.

The technology developed by the Detectability Laboratory from INTA, consists, on the contrary, of a small, light, low cost device for UAVs, totally autonomous and independent from the conventional platforms that carries it, being able to be loaded on a small UAV, having thus an acceptable destruction cost. This advantage allows the evaluation of modern weapon systems with real gunfire or its use as self-protection equipment against this kind of aircrafts.

Information Technology Security Evaluation

What we offer:
The Information Technology Security Evaluation Centre (CESTI) offers its experience in security evaluation services to IT product vendors and system integrators, who are seeking to qualify their product or systems by means of an independent security evaluation. Security evaluation is a requirement for the Spanish Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme to award a certificate to IT product or system. This awarded certificate is often a requirement for the products aimed to take part of critical infrastructures or some public services, in many states. Products certificated by the Spanish Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme receive the appropriate mutual recognition with other evaluation schemes around the World, signatories of the Common Criteria Recognition Agreement.

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR)

What we offer:
The Synthetic Aperture Radar Department has developed a complete SAR system from its definition stage to the software applications necessary for the signal processing. The technology has applications in remote sensing areas such as ground observation, ship detection, catastrophe follow-up, conflict area observation, etc. and can be used regardless of the weather conditions, night or day.
Compared to optical techniques to obtain airborne images, SAR technology has the following advantages:

• All weather operation (clouds, smog).
• Operation by night and day.
• Use of different bands on a same scene.
• Moving target detection.
• Interferometry.
• Polarimetry

What are we looking for:
The technology is ready for demonstration. The group is looking for commercial agreements with technical assistance.
